The Underground Jazz Quartet is a Bebob style jazz quartet that includes piano, guitar, bass and drums. Pianist/keyboardist Leroy Plock is an alumnus of the North Texas State Jazz Program. His playing credits include North Carolina Blues legend Roy Roberts, the Latin Jazz group Calle Mambo, the Salsa Band Orquesta Internacional La Clave, and the Little Apple Big Band. Leroy can be heard in a variety of group and solo settings in and around his adopted home of Winston-Salem, NC. |

(Ian) Tyson Morrow (BA Composition Berklee College of Music) began to play guitar professionally in 1995. Though fluent in various styles (jazz, bluegrass, jam, funk, R&B), a longtime love of the bop and postbop years in American jazz has been a constant inspiration. With the UJQ, Tyson is able to exercise this energy along with some thickly Latinflavored percussion jams when the mood suits. |

Margo Myers on upright bass, is from Winston-Salem, NC. She played guitar in the 70’s and studied music at UNC-Greensboro and the North Carolina School of the Arts. After a lengthy vacation from music, she switched to bass and has had played in several local Jazz Groups. |

Drummer Mike Appolonia studied engineering in college while attending the Hartt School of Music jazz program run by the legendary hard-bop saxophonist Jackie McLean. Mike is a versatile player who has performed and recorded styles including rock, New Orleans and jazz. Mike draws his drumming cues from jazz favorites such as Max Roach and Tony Williams. |
